How we estimate this
  • Price. The advertised price, which already includes any dealer fees.
  • Taxes & tags. North Carolina’s 3% Highway Use Tax and about $125 for title and plates, added to the loan as most buyers do.
  • Rate (APR). Typical used-car loan rates for each credit range: Excellent 7.4% · Good 9.9% · Fair 14.5% · Rebuilding 19.9%.
  • Loan length. Lenders keep loans on older cars short: up to 72 months for cars 6 years old or newer, 60 up to 9 years, 48 up to 12, and 36 after that.
  • The maths. A standard fixed-rate loan: monthly payment = amount × r ÷ (1 − (1 + r)−months), where r is the APR ÷ 12.
  • Not included. Trade-in, rebates, insurance, and any lender fees.
Ask the seller about financing

An estimate to help you plan, not a loan offer. Your rate depends on your credit, the lender and the car.
